Shaking off the crust

Just when I thought adulthood (particularly the 30-something-parent type) was beginning to get a little too serious, the weather changed. A few wispy breezes and slightly cooler temperatures this past weekend might have begun chipping away at the crust that late summer deposited into my brain! Who wants that? I wouldn't say it's crisp outside yet, but it's coming. And crisp is always better than crust, I always say. And now that you're in total disbelief at how many times a person can use the word crust in one little paragraph, I'll tell you how we shook off the crust (ha-haaaa) of late summer this past weekend. Maybe you can too. I think you ought to try.

Step 1: Show up on your friends' doorstep and say you're following them and their family to the zoo. They can't say no.

Step 2: Stay longer at the zoo than you ever thought you might just because you have nothing better to do. Oh and it feels awesome outside.

Step 3:  Move a Labor Day cookout from your house to the park and playground. Let kids run all over as if experiencing freedom for the first time. Drink beer at playground with other 30-something-parent types. Duh. Have you ever done that? It feels so questionable, but yet so.....questionable.

Step 4: And the final step in our weekend of shaking off the summer crust was...
Run, Leap, Karate Chop Your Way Through Water
Please observe:
Caution: There's always a skeptic. Ignore them. Until they cry or get hurt. The end.
